(A) : $$24^{2} - 12^{2} + 112 \div 14$$
= $$576 - 144 + 8 = 440$$
(B) : 17 × 12 + 59 × 4
= $$204 + 236 = 440$$
(C) : 15 × 28 + 20
= $$420 + 20 = 440$$
(D) : 27 × 16 + 56 ÷ 8
= $$432 + 7 = 439$$
(E) : 185 × 6 ÷ 2 - 23 × 5
= $$555 - 115 = 440$$
Clearly, D is not equal to the other four.
