A rectangular swimming pool of length 25 m and breadth 12 m has a uniformly sloping floor. It is 2 m in depth on one end of its length and 3 m at the other. How much water is needed to completely fill this pool?

Solution

The pool is 2 m in depth on one end of its length and 3 m at the other, thus the pool is in the shape of a trapezium whose volume will be equal to the product of area of trapezium and the width.

Length = 25 m and breadth = 12 m

=> Volume = $$(\frac{1}{2} \times (2+3) \times 25)\times 12$$

= $$125 \times 6 = 750$$ $$m^3$$

=> Ans - (D)
