A rectangular swimming pool of length 30 m and breadth 15 m has a uniformly sloping floor. It is 1 m in depth on one end of its length and 2 m at the other. How much water is needed to completely fill this pool?
The pool is 1 m in depth on one end of its length and 2 m at the other, thus the pool is in the shape of a trapezium whose volume will be equal to the product of area of trapezium and the width.
Length = 30 m and breadth = 15 m
=> Volume = $$(\frac{1}{2} \times (1+2) \times 30)\times 15$$
= $$45 \times 15 = 675$$ $$m^3$$
