Simplifying the terms :
$$x^{2} - y^{2} = (x - y) (x + y)$$
$$x^{3} - y^{3} = (x - y) (x^2 + y^2 + xy)$$
The only common term in both expression is x-y
$$\therefore$$ H.C.F. of $$x^{2} - y^{2}$$ and $$x^{3} - y^{3} = (x - y)$$
