The average of three numbers is 6. The average of the first two is 5 while the average of the last two is 8. The three numbers are:

Solution

Let three Number be A,B,C.

Average of Three Number = $$\frac{A+B+C}{3}$$ =6

A+B+C=18 ---- Equation (i)

A + B = 10, --- Equation (ii)

B + C = 16, --- Equation (iii)

Adding Equation (ii) and (iii) we get,

A + 2B + C = 26 ---- Equation (iv)

Subtracting equation (iv) from (i), we get.

B = 8
