Question 73

The area of a circle is 1386 $$cm^{2}$$. What is the radius of the circle? [Use $$\pi = \frac{22}{7}$$]

Solution

The area of a circle is 1386 $$cm^{2}$$.

area of a circle = $$\pi\ \times\left(radius\right)^2$$

$$1386=\frac{22}{7}\ \times\left(radius\right)^2$$

$$63=\frac{1}{7}\ \times\left(radius\right)^2$$
$$63\times7\ =\left(radius\right)^2$$
$$7\times\ 9\times7\ =\left(radius\right)^2$$
$$7^2\times\ 3^2\ =\left(radius\right)^2$$
$$radius = 7\times3$$
Radius of the circle =  21 cm
