The mean score in a test of the 10 boys in a class was 15 while the overall mean of the 25 students in the class was 16.2. What was the mean score of the girls?

Solution

Mean score of 10 boys = 15 (data given in question)

Total scoring of boys = 15$$\times$$10 =150

Mean score of all students = 16.2 (data given in question)

Total scoring of students = 25 $$\times$$16.2 =405

So,scoring of girls = 405 - 150 =255

Total girls= 25-10 =15

Mean score of girls= $$\frac{255}{15}$$ =17
