In banking, GNPA refers to the total value of loans and advances for which borrowers have not paid interest or principal for more than 90 days. It is a key indicator of asset quality and the financial health of banks, used by RBI for regulatory monitoring and stress analysis. The higher the GNPA, the weaker the credit performance and profitability.
