Question 71

The following graph shows the production of cotton cloth (in lakh metres) by three companies  A, B and C over the years 1996 - 2000.

The production of company A during 1996-98 is what percentage of the average production of  companies B and C during 1998-2000 (correct to two decimal places)?

Solution

The bar graph shown in the question shows the production of cotton cloth in the yeae 1996 to 2000

The production of Company A during 1996 - 1998 = 24 + 29 + 34 = 87

Production of Company B in 1998-2000 = 38 + 49 + 55 = 142

Production of Company C in 1998-2000 = 59 + 51 + 52 = 162

Average of production of Company B and C in year 1998-2000 = $$\frac{\left(142+162\right)}{2}=\frac{304}{2}=152$$

Required Percentage = $$\frac{87}{152}\times\ 100=57.24\ \%$$

Hence, Option D is correct.
