Statement 2:There are 3 families in the building.No two families live immediately above or below each other.

Solution

From statement 1, we only come to know about the maximum limit of the building
From statement 2, we can infer that the families might live on 1,3,5 or 2,4,6. The number of floors can be 5 or 6.
Hence the correct answer is option e.
