In the ﬁrst 26 overs of a cricket match, the run rate was 5.4 runs/over. What is the required run rate in the remaining 24 overs to reach the target of 294 runs?

Solution

Run rate in 26 overs = 5.4 runs/over

=> Runs scored in 26 overs = $$26 \times 5.4 = 140.4$$

Runs needed to score in 24 overs = 294 - 140.4 = 153.6

=> Run rate required = $$\frac{153.6}{24} = 6.4$$

=> Ans - (B)
