The table given below shows the production of rice and the area under rice cultivation of a country for 5 consecutive years Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4 and Y5.
What is the percentage change in the yield per square meter of Y5 as compared to Y1?
Solution
Yield per square meter of Y5 $$= \dfrac{850}{170} = 5$$
Yield per square meter of Y1 $$= \dfrac{520}{130} = 4$$
Therefore, Required percentage = $$\dfrac{5-4}{4}\times100 = \dfrac{1}{4}\times100 = 25$$%
