Question 69

A train crosses a 600 metres long platform in 50 seconds. It crosses another 900 metres long platform in 60 seconds. What are the length and the speed ofthe train? (Assuming the train is going at constant speed)

speed = $$\frac{length of train + length of platfom}{time}$$

In both. The case speed of train will be same so,

$$\frac{L+ length of platfom}{time}$$ = $$\frac{ L+ length of platfom}{time}$$

$$\frac{L+ 600}{50}$$ = $$\frac{ L+ 900}{60}$$

L= 900 m

Speed= $$\frac{900+ 600}{50}$$

  =30m/s

Change into km/hr

30$$\times \frac{18}{5}$$

= 108 km/hr
