Question 67

A started a business with an investment of Rs. 16,000/. After 6 months from the start of the business, B and C joined with Rs.12,000/and Rs.18,000/respectively and A invested an additional amount of Rs.4,000/. If the difference between A’s share and B’s share in the annual profit is Rs.6,000/, what was the annual profit received ?

Solution

A invested Rs. 16,000 for 6 months and Rs. 20,000 for another 6 months, B invested Rs. 12,000 for 6 months and C invested Rs. 18,000 for 6 months.

Ratio of profit earned by A:B:C

= $$(16,000\times6+20,000\times6):(12,000\times6):(18,000\times6)$$

= $$(96+120):72:108$$

= $$216:72:108=6:2:3$$

Let total profit = $$Rs.$$ $$x$$

=> Difference between A's and B's share = $$[\frac{6}{(6+2+3)}-\frac{2}{(6+2+3)}]\times x=6,000$$

=> $$\frac{4x}{11}=6000$$

=> $$x=6000\times\frac{11}{4} = Rs.$$ $$16,500$$

=> Ans - (D)
