Question 65

The length and breadth of a rectangle are in the ratio 5 : 3. If the length is 8 m more than the breadth, what is the area of the rectangle?

Solution

Given,

The length and breadth of the rectangle are in the ratio 5 : 3

Let the length and breadth of the rectangle are 5p and 3p respectively

The length is 8 m more than the breadth

$$=$$>  5p = 3p +8

$$=$$>  5p - 3p = 8

$$=$$>  2p = 8

$$=$$>  p = 4

$$\therefore\ $$Area of the rectangle = $$5p\times3p$$ = $$15p^2$$ = $$15\left(4\right)^2$$ = $$15\left(16\right)$$ = $$240m^2$$

Hence, the correct answer is Option B
