Question 65

A man running at 8 Km/hr, along side a railway track is 320m ahead of the engine of a 130 meter long train running at 62 Km/hr, in the same direction. In how much time will the train pass that running man?

To completely cross the man, the train has to cover 320 +Β 130 = 450 m.
The relative speed of the train = Speed of train - Speed of man = 62 - 8 = 54 km/hr =Β $$54\times\ \frac{5}{18}=15\ $$m/sec.
Time taken =Β $$\frac{450}{15}=30\ \sec onds$$.
