Question 61

Two trains are moving in opposite directions at 60 km/hr and 90 km/hr. Their lengths are 1.10 km and 0.9 km
respectively. What is the time taken by the slower train to cross the faster train in seconds?

distance = total length = 1.10 km +0.9 km

                                   = 2km

                                  =2000 m

relative speed =  60 km/hr + 90 km/hr

                       = 150 km/hr

change into m/s = $$150\frac{5}{18}= \frac{125}{3}$$

time = $$distance\times speed$$

       = $$2000\times \frac{125}{3}$$

       =48 sec
