From the triangle,
PQ$$^2$$ + QR$$^2$$ = PR$$^2$$
$$\Rightarrow$$ 8$$^2$$ + QR$$^2$$ = 17$$^2$$
$$\Rightarrow$$ 64 + QR$$^2$$ = 289
