Question 57

How long does a train, 75 m long, moving at 60 km/hr take to pass a certain telegraph post?

Solution

Length of train = 75 m

Speed of train = 60 km/hr

= $$(60 \times \frac{5}{18})$$ m/sec = $$\frac{50}{3}$$ m/sec

=> Time taken to pass a certain telegraph post = distance/speed

= $$75\div \frac{50}{3}$$

= $$75 \times \frac{3}{50}=\frac{9}{2}$$

= $$4.5$$ sec

=> Ans - (B)
