Let the ages of X and Y 3 years ago be 4x and 5x. Ages 6 years from then are 4x+6 and 5x+6

But 4x+6:5x+6 = 5:6

Solving we get the answer as x = 6

Sum of today's ages = 4x + 5x + 6 = 9x + 6 = 60 years
