Question 55

Study the following table and answer question.

Number of students appeared in an examination from five cities:

The ratio of the total number of students passed in the examination from cities A and D to that of students failed from cities B and E?

Solution

Total number of students passed in the examination from cities A and D = $$(\frac{5}{9}\times54)+(\frac{9}{16}\times96)$$

= $$30+54=84$$

Total number of students failed in the examination from cities B and E = $$(\frac{3}{7}\times126)+(\frac{5}{11}\times132)$$

= $$54+60=114$$

=> Required ratio = $$\frac{84}{114}=6:19$$

=> Ans - (D)
