Speed = $$\frac{length\ of\ train}{time}$$

= $$\frac{480}{16}$$

= 30 m/s

Time taken to pass a platform that is 900 m long = $$\frac{length\ of\ train+length\ of\ platform}{speed}$$

= $$\frac{480+900}{30}$$

= $$\frac{1380}{30}$$

= 46 seconds
