Find the total surface area of a closed hemisphere whose diameter is 7 cm.

Solution

diameter of hemisphere = 7 cm

radius of hemisphere = $$\frac{7}{2}$$ cm

Total surface area of a closed hemisphere = $$3\times\ \pi\ \times\ \left(radius\right)^2$$

= $$3\times\ \frac{22}{7}\times\ \left(\frac{7}{2}\right)^2$$

= $$3\times\ \frac{22}{7}\times\frac{49}{4}$$

= $$3\times\ 11\times\frac{7}{2}$$

= $$33\times3.5$$

= 115.5 $$cm^{2}$$
