Question 51

Krishna’s piggy bank contains coins in the denominations of Rs. 1, Rs. 2, Rs. 5 in the ratio of 3: 4: 5 respectively. If the total value of all the coins combined is Rs.1296, what is the number of Rs. 2 coins in the piggy bank?

It has been given that the coins are in the ratio of 3x: 4x: 5x.
Total value of all the coins combined = 3x*1 + 4x*2 + 5x*5 = 36x
It has been given that 36x = 1296
Hence, x = $$\frac{1296}{36}$$ = 36
Hence, the total number of Rs. 2 coins = 4 * 36 = 144 coins.
Therefore, option D is the right answer.
