If $$x^2 + 1$$ divides the cubic, the other factor must be $$x + d$$,
Let
$$x^3 + ax^2 + bx + c = (x^2 + 1)(x + d) = x^3 + dx^2 + x + d$$.Β
Comparing coefficients gives $$a =d,Β b = 1$$ and $$c = d$$. Since $$a$$ can be any of the 12 allowed values and then $$c$$ gets fixed, there are 12 such polynomials.
