Question 48

If $$\left(1 + \frac{x}{144}\right)^{\frac{1}{2}} = 1 + \frac{1}{2}$$, what is the value of x?

Expression : $$\left(1 + \frac{x}{144}\right)^{\frac{1}{2}} = 1 + \frac{1}{2}$$

=> $$1+\frac{x}{144}=(\frac{3}{2})^2$$

=> $$\frac{x}{144}=\frac{9}{4}-1$$

=> $$x=\frac{5}{4}\times144=180$$
