Six tables labelled C, D, L, N, P and X are placed in a row facing towards the south (not necessarily in the same order). D is placed second to the left of L. X is placed second to the right of P. N is placed third to the left of D. How many tables are placed between C and X?

Solution

Given, N is placed third to the left of D and D is placed second to the left of L. So, we will have L who will be sitting at the extreme right corner when facing south and N sitting at the extreme left corner.

Then we have X is placed second to the right of P.

The only possibility that we have is P is sitting to the immediate left of D. So, we will have X and P as the neighbours of D.

The final arrangement is as shown above.

Here two tables are there in between C and X - they are P and D.
