Given below are two statements,one is labelled as Assertion A and the other is labelled as Reason R
Assertion A: Butylated hydroxyl anisole when added to butter increases its shelf life.
Reason R: Butylated hydroxyl anisole is more reactive towards oxygen than food.
In the light of the above statements, choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below:-

Assertion A: BHA (Butylated hydroxyl anisole) is an antioxidant food additive that prevents oxidation of fats and oils, thereby increasing shelf life of butter. This is correct.

Reason R: BHA is more reactive towards oxygen than the food components (it preferentially gets oxidized). This is correct and IS the correct explanation of why it works as an antioxidant.

Both A and R are correct and R is the correct explanation of A.

The correct answer is Option 1.
