A batsman,in his $$12^{th}$$ innings, makes a score of 63 runs and there by increases his average score by 2. The average of his score after $$12^{th}$$ innings is

Solution

Assume total runs in 11 innings be 'x'

then the average score in 11 innings = 11x

score of 12th inning = 63

after 12th inning average score increased by 2

thus the average of 12 innings = $$ \frac{11x + 63}{12} = x + 2 $$

on solving x = 39

therefore average score after 12th inning = 39 + 2 = 41
