Study the given table and answer the questions that follow.
The table shows the data regarding the number of medals won by countries A, B, C, D, E and F in International games in 2020

Question 42

The total number of Gold medals won by countries B, D and E together is what per cent more than the total number of Bronze medals won by countries C and F (correct to one decimal place)?

Solution

The number of gold medals won by B, D, E = 14+10+12=36.

Now calculate the bronze medals won by C and F.

Bronze medals won by C:

16+6x+7x=42

13x=26

x=2

7x=14

Bronze medals won by F :

13+5y+6y=46

11y=33

y=3

6y=18

Bronze medals won by C and F=14+18=32

The percentage by which 36 is more than 32.

$$\frac{\left(36-32\right)}{32}\cdot100$$=12.5%
