Question 40

The sum of three consecutive numbers is 126. Find the highest number.

Solution

Let the three consecutive numbers be x, x+1 and x+2

x + x+1 + x+2 = 126

3x + 3 = 126

3x = 123

x = 41

So, highest number = 41 + 2 = 43.
