If two numbers with HCF 9 are in the ratio 5 : 7, what is their difference?

Solution

let A and B be the number

A:B = 5:7

hcf = 9, the two numbers will be multiplies of 5 and 7

so A = $$5\times 9 = 45$$

B = $$7\times 9 = 63$$

so difference in the number = 63 - 45 = 18
