A particle starts from the origin at time $$t = 0$$ and moves along the positive $$x$$-axis. The graph of velocity with respect to time is shown in figure. What is the position of the particle at time $$t = 5s$$?
$$\text{Area}_{0 \rightarrow 2} = \text{Area of triangle} = \frac{1}{2} \times \text{base} \times \text{height} = \frac{1}{2} \times 2 \times 2 = 2$$
$$\text{Area}_{2 \rightarrow 4} = \text{Area of rectangle} = \text{width} \times \text{height} = (4 - 2) \times 2 = 4$$
$$\text{Area}_{4 \rightarrow 5} = \text{Area of rectangle} = \text{width} \times \text{height} = (5 - 4) \times 3 = 3$$
$$x(5) = \text{Area}_{0 \rightarrow 2} + \text{Area}_{2 \rightarrow 4} + \text{Area}_{4 \rightarrow 5} = 2 + 4 + 3 = 9\text{ m}$$
