Question 38

In a certain code language, ‘TIGER’ is written as ‘18-7-5-3-16’. What will be the code for ‘LEOPARD’ in that code language?

Solution

The place value of each letter is subtracted by 2 to obtain the code.

TIGER ==> 20 9 7 5 18 ==> (20-2) (9-2) (7-2) (5-2) (18-2) ==> 18-7-5-3-16

As we know that the alphabetical series is in circular form. So here the place value of 'A' can be (26+1) = 27. Else the value will negative as per the above logic which is not possible as per the given options.

LEOPARD ==> 12 5 15 16 27 18 4 ==> (12-2) (5-2) (15-2) (16-2) (27-2) (18-2) (4-2) ==> 10-3-13-14-25-16-2
