Question 37

An engineering student has to secure 45% marks to pass. He gets 54 and fails by 36 marks. Find the maximum marks.

Solution

Let maximum marks = $$100x$$

=> Passing marks = $$\frac{45}{100} \times 100x = 45x$$

According to ques,

=> $$45x - 36 = 54$$

=> $$45x = 54 + 36 = 90$$

=> $$x = \frac{90}{45} = 2$$

$$\therefore$$ Maximum marks = $$100 \times 2 = 200$$

=> Ans - (A)
