Average age of 3 children born at intervals of 2 years is 8. How old is the eldest child?

Solution

let the age be x

ages are x, (x+2),(x+4)

avg = $$\frac{x+ (x+2)+(x+4)}{3}$$

8 = $$\frac{3x+6}{3}$$

x =6

so eldest child = (x+4) =10years
