Question 31

Two numbers are 35% and 50% lesser than a third number. By how much percent is the second number to be enhanced to make it equal to the first number?

Solution

Let the third number = $$100x$$

Let first number be $$a$$ and second number be $$b$$

=> $$a = 100x - \frac{35}{100} \times 100x = 65x$$

and $$b = 100x - \frac{50}{100} \times 100x = 50x$$

% by which the second number is to be enhanced to make it equal to the first number

= $$\frac{65x - 50x}{50x} \times 100$$

= $$15 \times 2 = 30\%$$

=> Ans - (D)
