Question 31

Find the smallest of the following decimals.

Solution

A = $$\frac{2}{10}\times\frac{2}{10}\times\frac{2}{10} = \frac{8}{1000}$$

B = $$\frac{0.02}{3} = \frac{2}{100\times3} = \frac{20}{3000} = \frac{6.666}{1000}$$

C = $$\frac{0.01}{2} = \frac{1}{200} = \frac{0.5}{100}= \frac{5}{1000}$$

D = $$\frac{1}{10}\times \frac{2}{100}\times 2 = \frac{4}{1000}$$

Since all the denominators are the same, the number with the lowest numerator will be the smallest fraction.

Hence option D.
