A started a business with ₹25,000 and is joined afterwards by B with ₹40,000. After how many months did B join if the profits at the end of the year are divided equally?
Let us assume that B joined for X months and A's tenure = 12 months.
The ratio of their profits for A and B = $$\frac{12\times\ 25000}{X\times\ 40000}$$.
This ratio should be 1:1.
==> $$\frac{12\times\ 25000}{X\times\ 40000}=\frac{1}{1}$$
X = 7.5 months.
So, C joined after 12 - 7.5 = 4.5 months.
