An article was sold for Rs. 26.000 at a discount of 35%. Find the selling price if the discount was 15%.

Solution

Let marked price = X

Discount = 35% of X

= 0.35X

selling price = m.p - discount

= X - 0.35X

= 0.65 X

Given that S.P = Rs 26000

so,

26000 = 0.65X

X = RS40000

given 15% discount

so, 15% of 40000 = 6000

s.p = m.p - discount = 40000 - 6000 = Rs 34000
