Question 3

Simplify: $$1.\overline{2} - 0.1\overline{2}$$

Solution

Here, $$1.\overline{2} $$ and  $$ 0.1\overline{2}$$ are recurring decimals.

A recurring decimal is a number which keeps repeating forever after the decimal point

$$1.\overline{2} - 0.1\overline{2}$$ = 1.2222 - 0.1222  = 1.1000

1.1 = $$\frac{11}{10}$$
