A stream of particles each of mass 1 g moving horizontally with a velocity of $$5\text{ m/s}$$ strike a vertical wall. The particles stick to the wall after hitting the wall. Number of particles per $$\text{m}^3$$ of the stream is 10000.<br>Find the number of particles of the stream that cross a vertical section of area $$0.4\text{ m}^2$$ in two seconds
Correct Answer: 40000
In two seconds the stream moves $$5 \times 2 = 10\text{ m}$$, so the particles crossing the section fill a volume of $$0.4 \times 10 = 4\text{ m}^3$$. That is $$10000 \times 4 = 40000$$ particles.
