A student has to score 30% marks throughout. If he gets 30 marks and fails by 30 marks, then the maximum marks set for the examination is

Given that he got 30 marks, he must get an additional 30 marks to pass. So 30+30=60 marks are the pass marks. 

It is given that 30% has to be scored by the student. So, 30% of the total marks is 60 marks. 

Let x be the total marks. 

30% of x = 60

$$\frac{30}{100}$$ *x=60

$$\RIghtarrow$$ x = $$\frac{60*100}{30}$$ = 200
