Ramesh moves toward the east and covers 30 m and then takes a right and covers 40 m. Find the direction and the distance from the initial point to the final point.
Let Ramesh starts from point A and moved towards east for 30 m to reach point B, then turned right for 40 m and stopped at point C.
Thus, in $$\triangle$$ ABC,
=> $$(AC)^2=(AB)^2+(BC)^2$$
=> $$(AC)^2=(30)^2+(40)^2$$
=> $$(AC)^2=900+1600=2500$$
=> $$AC=\sqrt{2500}=50$$ m
Thus, Ramesh is 50 m south-east of his original position.
