Question 181

Which of the following means R is the paternal uncle of B?
(a)B × Q ÷ L × R
(b)B × D ÷ J × R × K
(c)R × P ÷ S × B

Solution

(a) B × Q ÷ L × R : B is brother of Q and L is father of Q. Also, L is brother of R.

=> R can be either male or female, thus we cannot say if R is paternal uncle of B or not.

(b) B × D ÷ J × R × K : B is brother of D and J is father of D. Also, J is brother of R, who is brother of K.

=> R is male and paternal uncle of B.

(c) R × P ÷ S × B : R is brother of P and S is father of P. Also, S is brother of B.

=> R is nephew of B.

Thus, only from (b), R is paternal uncle of B.

=> Ans - (B)
