A boat can travel with a speed of 30 km/hr in still water. If the speed of the stream is 6 km/hr, find the time taken by the boat to go 108 km downstream.

Solution

Given that Speed of Boat (B) = 30 km/hr

Speed of River (R) = 6 km/hr

Speed in downstream = 30 + 6 = 36 km/hr

Distance to be covered (D) = 108 km

Using Distance = Speed x Time

Time = $$\frac{Distance}{Speed}$$ = $$\frac{108}{36}$$ = 3 hour
