InterchangingĀ $$+ and -$$ , we get ,

$$40 - 10 \div 2 \times 8 + 17 $$

=$$40 - 5 \times 8 + 17 $$

= 40 - 40 + 17

= 17

So , the answer would be option c)$$+ and -$$.
