Question 16

The sum of the squares of two odd numbers is 11570. The square of the smaller number is 5329. What is the other number?

Solution

let the two numbers be a and b , where b is the smaller number

$$(a)^2$$ + $$(b)^2$$ = 11570

$$(a)^2$$ + 5329 = 11570

$$(a)^2$$ = 6241 = 79 x 79

a = 79

Hence option D is correct
