The average of four consecutive odd numbers P, Q, R and S respectively (in increasing order) is 104. What is the sum of P and S?
Let the four consecutive odd integers be $$(x) , (x+2) , (x+4) , (x+6)$$
=> Sum of these 4 integers = 4 * 104 = 416
=> $$(x) + (x+2) + (x+4) + (x+6) = 416$$
=> $$4x = 416 - 12 = 404$$
=> $$x = \frac{404}{4} = 101 = P$$
=> $$S = x + 6 = 101 + 6 = 107$$
$$\therefore P + S = 101 + 107 = 208$$
