The owner of a Television shop charges his customer 16% more than the cost price. If a customer paid Rs. 16588 for a Television, then what was the cost price of the Television ?

Solution

Let the cost price of the television = Rs. $$100x$$

Selling price = $$\frac{116}{100} * 100x = 116x$$

Acc to ques,

=> $$116x = 16588$$

=> $$x = \frac{16588}{116} = 143$$

$$\therefore$$ Cost price of television = 100 * 143 = Rs. 14,300
